President Announces Preliminary Climate Change Steps

His administration is transitioning away from fossil fuels.

On Wednesday, President Biden visited the Brayton Point Power Station, a former coal-fueled power plant in Massachusetts, that has begun transitioning into an offshore wind power manufacturing plant. While there, he gave a speech announcing executive actions to combat climate change, including boosts to the offshore wind industry and $2.3 billion in funding to help communities handle skyrocketing temperatures.

“Let me be clear: Climate change is an emergency,″ President Biden said. He pledged to use his power as president “to turn these words into formal, official government actions through the appropriate proclamations, executive orders and regulatory power that a president possesses.” Though he used the word “emergency” repeatedly in his speech, he did not declare a formal federal emergency declaration to combat climate change.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to work through the president and his administration to accomplish His purposes.
  • For the president and his energy advisors to seek the Lord’s wisdom in setting policies.
  • For Secretary Granholm to be discerning and have insight as she heads the Department of Energy.
